Dragon Boat Festival

Where: Palmer Park, Port Perry
An amazing day was had by all at the 2018 Annual Port Perry Dragon Boat Festival.
The June 16th Festival, held at Palmer Park, Port Perry, hosted by iB Dragonboating and Lively Dragon, was a great day – the sun shone as teams from near and far took part in some friendly competition. Paddlers raised close to $33,0000 – funds that stay in our community, benefitting Port Perry Hospital Foundation (80%) and Scugog Lake Stewards (20%).
The inaugural Durham Dragon Award Best Time Challenge (and the bragging rights that go with it) was won by Durham’s Motorboaters.
Top Fundraising Team was, for the 5th year in a row, the Sistoars. – Way to go, Sistoars!!!
Top Fundraising Prizes went to the following:
- 1st Prize (Individual) – $500 Cara Restaurant Gift Card: Winner – Tish Menzies
- 2nd Prize (Individual) – $250 Canadian Tire Gift Card: Winner – Alice Lee
- 3rd Prize (Individual) – $100 Tim Hortons Gift Card: Winner – Barb Brett
And finally, the one-week stay at a beautiful Costa Rican villa donated by Rising Point Systems (the name was randomly drawn from all paddlers/team members who raised $200 or more): Winner – Steve Gordon
