Danielle in our Foundation office was showing photos of her beautiful new niece the other day. Baby Avery was born at Port Perry Hospital’s New Life Centre, her mom having delivered both her children here in the community she calls home.
Kim, a dedicated supporter, recently received life-saving breast cancer surgery at Port Perry Hospital before being referred to the McLaughlin Regional Cancer Centre at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for her follow-up treatment. Kim shared, “I have always known our hospital is important, but I never imagined how important until I needed life-saving care. “
Wendy was rushed to Port Perry Hospital in a medical crisis. Her daughter Carla credits the skill of the medical team and access to the CT scanner for quickly diagnosing her mom’s brain bleed, which lead to an emergency ORNGE transport to Sunnybrook for specialized care. “There are no words big enough to thank Port Perry Hospital – they gave mom a fighting chance,” said Carla.
Very recently, we received the very sad news of the passing of Jim, a long-time supporter and past volunteer Board member. There was comfort for his family knowing that he was cared for in his final days at the hospital that meant so much to him.
These are just a few of the recent stories shared with me about our hospital along with praise for the care they or a loved one has received.
There is no doubt Port Perry Hospital is here for you when you need it. There is also no doubt that this hospital is better equipped to provide life-saving medical care because of your support.
It may be surprising, but our hospital does not receive government funding to cover much of the medical equipment required. It’s up to Port Perry Hospital Foundation and supporters like you to make sure we have the tools we need.
