Healing Ceilings
The Healing Ceiling Project is a partnership between the Port Perry Hospital Foundation and the Scugog Council for the Arts that will brighten people’s hospital stay.
With the help and talent of local artists, hospital ceiling tiles were painted and placed back in patient rooms as works of art. This allows patients to have something calming and colourful to look up at while at Port Perry Hospital.
Similar initiatives have proven successful at hospitals throughout North America and have shown the public that there is a healing power associated with art. Port Perry Hospital is the first hospital in Durham Region to have painted ceiling tiles.
The benefits of Healing Ceilings:
• Health care tool that will help relieve feelings of anxiety, depression or boredom
• Can be used as a purposeful distraction when a patient has to undergo a small procedure
• Act as a conversation starter for people visiting a loved one
• A beautiful thing to look at
Thank you for your support
Thanks to the generosity of our donor and local arts community a Healing Ceiling tile has been placed above every inpatient bed and each tile sponsored by a caring community member.
Healing Ceiling organizers would like to thank the tile sponsors and the amazing artists who have donated their talents and all who help ensure this project by sponsoring a Healing Ceiling tile.
Please stay tuned as the program grows to other areas of the hospital.
