Healing Garden – Nearly Complete
Throughout the summer construction progressed on our Healing Garden. Our hope was to hold the Here for You Donor Appreciation events in the new nearly complete Healing Garden. The contractors had worked furiously to make that possible but, alas, mother nature had other plans. With rain throughout the day we moved to the hospital lobby for the festivities.
Still, guests were able to get a sneak peak of the Healing Garden.
The Healing Garden is now in use by staff and patients. Very recently, a patient and her husband shared with a Port Perry staff member that, “between the excellent patient care and having such a beautiful garden to come to when feeling up to it, we feel like we’ve won the lottery.”
There still remain a few minor things to complete the garden including indigenous planters. These planters will hold medicinal indigenous plants that will be planted in the spring as some of the plants are annuals and the growing season for this year has passed.
Between Port Perry’s amazing medical team and the hospital improvements possible because of the community’s support, we think our patients are in very good hands!
