Bequests and Other Planned Giving
Having had your life or a loved one’s life touched by care at Port Perry Hospital or simply wishing to support your community in a lasting and meaningful way is reason to consider a planned or legacy gift. Planned gifts include bequests, and also life insurance, charitable trusts, retirement plan income, and even property.

We recommend you seek counsel from a trusted advisor when considering a planned gift. We also recommend that you speak to the Foundation office to ensure correct wording and that we can use your gift in keeping with your wishes.
Contact Foundation CEO, Rachel Agnoluzzi at 905-985-7321 ext 45581 to learn more.
Charitable Bequests
A charitable bequest is a gift to a charity specified in your Will.
Thorough a bequest, you can designate a specific amount of money, or a percentage of your full estate in support of Port Perry Hospital by naming Port Perry Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary in your Will.
We highly recommend that you speak to your lawyer to ensure your wishes are set out clearly in your Will.
As well, we encourage you to call the Foundation office to ensure we can use your donation as intended. Plus, when you let the Foundation know, it allows us to say thank you, today, for the wonderful legacy to the community you plan to leave in the future.
Life Insurance
There are a few ways to use life insurance to make a gift to Lakeridge Health Port Perry. You can give ownership of a new or an existing policy to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, or you can name the Foundation as the beneficiary of the policy.
There are different tax consequences that benefit different stages of life with each option. Your financial or insurance advisor can help you set this up, but please remember to let the Foundation know of your plans to ensure we can use your gift in keeping with your wishes.
Retirement Plans
You can appoint the Port Perry Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary of your RRSP or RRIF, or make a donation in your Will equal to the proceeds from your retirement plan. The charitable donation tax credit has been extended to include the proceeds from RRSPs and RRIFs.
Should you name Port Perry Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary of your retirement plan, the proceeds may be transferred directly to the Foundation, which could help protect the gift from other estate costs.
Please remember to let the Foundation know of your plans to ensure we can use your gift in keeping with your wishes.
Property
You may wish to consider a donation of real estate, shares in publicly held corporations (gift of securities), royalty interest, art, jewelry, etc. The Foundation reserves the right to sell property donated for its use.
Please be sure to contact Foundation CEO, Rachel Agnoluzzi at 905-985-7321 ext 45581 in advance of a donation of property to ensure we can accept your gift for its intended purpose.
